May 27, 2010 The city of Elmira eliminated these ring-bill gulls eggs and babies on this island in the middle of the Chemung River in downtown Elmira because of the complaint of ONE businessman. Every year these gulls mate, make nests, and raise their families on this island from April to early July. It is the southernmost colony of this type of gull in the Northeast. One businessman did not know how to use soap and water and this is what happened. If you see something that isn't right. SPEAK UP. Look what happened in Elmira.
